We all know what spam is and often have our inboxes inundated with it. I know there are programmes that get rid of it, but what is spam nowadays? Much of it used to be advertising… go here and win this, or get this for this many $. Also much of it came with a very friendly virus (AAGH!), of which our subscribed virus software would hopefully do its job and get rid of.
What I tend to get now is a load of rubbish that I can’t make sense of, not even somewhere to ‘click’ to actually view what this person is on about - so what’s the point? If we all have these mail washer programmes or other types of software that eliminate spam and viruses, what’s the point in it?
I have noticed lots of suggestions from Nookers wanting different things on the web site. I have also read comments from Nook admin who will consider some.
I think it would be great to have a Nook News Poll. Put up a random question and see what the statistics are?
Are we still able to deposit cheques at ATMs? I wanted to deposit a cheque the other week at an ATM machine, as it was easier than going to Knox City or Eastland, parking etc. etc. Remember there used to be envelopes and you could do this? This machine didn’t have that facility.
Does anyone know if this has been totally abandoned? If so, why? If it isn’t what ATMs can you deposit at?
Does Nook admin actually moderate what is published here?
6 Answers Published 1 year, 10 months ago in Making News.I have been spending quite some time over the last few weeks reading the questions posted here on Nook and only started creating and replying to questions yesterday - see I am bashful, hence the name and profile.
I have noticed a couple of posts today where Nookers have raised questions in relation to religion, atheism, Muslims, suicide bombing, the Bible, the Koran - the list goes on… (I will not mention usernames as that is not what I have set out to do.)
My concern here, is that I feel these sorts of comments/questions should not be published, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy reading everyone’s comments, as that is the way we truly learn about our society and community. I value all opinions and respect each and every individual for their view. However, when it gets to offensive remarks about suicide bombers, atheism and religion, the latter, which many hold dear to their hearts, particularly in times of crises (of which we have had many over the years), I feel these questions should be moderated accordingly.
There is a section in the Guidelines ‘Keep It Clean’ however, their is no reference to biblical degrading remarks and religion. I read many blog sites, the Herald Sun being one (although I don’t contribute), all of their blogs are moderated - I believe to a degree, and I understand that any biblical reference that is degrading will not be published. However, how does one classify what is degrading and what is not, to a moderator something may not be degrading, yet is extremely so to another.
I am not having a go at anyone, believe me, that is not what I have set out to do, I enjoy reading all the contributions in Nook (as already stated) and would like some advice from Nook Admin on the rules and regulations of their moderation process. Of course, I would like others opinions on what they think.
Thanks for reading…
P.S. Lady Chaos, you are a legend - thanks for your contributions!
There have been quite a few comments on Australia Day and what it means to us, and what we did or do on Australia Day.
There are many songs that have been written that represent Australia and many are quite heart wrenching. I am sure most of you would have heard or read the lyrics to Amanda Vanstone’s new Australia song. What do you think? I think it is great, has good lyrics, although I am not sure whether it will be up there with ‘True Blue’.
I have been wondering about the community called Nook. I have seen some of the users term other users as Nookers, maybe we should be called Nookians, Nookies, Nookonians, Nookees, or a Nooka?
What is the best description for those who use the world wide web of Nook.
There seems to be some pretty cool usernames out there in the land of Nook, is that what you call it - the land of Nook.
I wonder where the idea of usernames within Nook comes from? Is your username applicable to you, your lifestyle, or is it a nickname, something you just made up? Does your username reflect your profile?
It’s really interesting, I am just wondering if someone will answer with where there original Nook username comes from, or how it was created.
I have been wondering what is in a profile? There are many pictures/avatars that must relate to the person who has signed up.
I am bashful, it has taken me three weeks to create a username and a profile, and because it took so long, I decided on the name bashful and posted a profile picture of the same character.
I have been reading many posts and watching the different profiles come up, and they really are quite good.
What’s in your profile?
Tired looking DVD movie, XBox, Playstation game (etc.) covers?
0 Answers Published 1 year, 10 months ago in My life. The world’s largest cover archive, is really useful as I have spent a few hours over Christmas updating my tired looking DVD covers by purchasing new plastic covers from the market and going on to : -
http://www.cdcovers.cc/ to find the movie, or XBox game title, copying and pasting the cover, and even the CD cover and printing them. Very useful.
